Instructions for Sending International Wire Transfers

Instructions for completing the Wire Transfer form
- Complete the Beneficiary section of the wire with the Beneficiary Name, Address, City, Country and Account Number (required for all International Wires)
*Note: Wire transfers sent to Mexico must include a CLABE number. The CLABE number should be entered in the Beneficiary Account number field and must consist of 18 digits.
- Complete Beneficiary Bank section of the wire template the Beneficiary Bank’s Name, Address, City and Country.
- Select SWIFT from the drop-down box in the Beneficiary Bank section and enter the SWIFT code (do not put any spaces in the SWIFT code).
- If you do not have a SWIFT code or your wiring instructions include a Sort Code, you must still select SWIFT from the drop down menu in the Beneficiary Bank and enter “NONE”. Enter the Sort Code in the Address 2 line of the Beneficiary Bank section.
- A valid SWIFT code consists of the following (no spaces)
Bank Code – 4 letter code representing the bank name
Country Code – 2 letter country code*
Location Code – 2 alphanumeric characters identifying the location of the institution within the specified country
Branch Code (Optional) – 3 alphanumeric characters
Examples: JNBKUS44, AGRIFRPP882
- Do not use a SWIFT code with a Country Code of “US” – This is a US bank and you will need an ABA (routing) number to wire to the Bank. This wire will be sent as a Domestic Fed wire.
- The Receiving Bank and Intermediary sections of the wire template must be left blank.
- Complete the Transfer Information section with the amount of the wire transfer, the account that should be debited for the wire amount and any message you would like to accompany the payment. (See example below)
- If you are sending a wire in foreign currency, enter the amount of foreign currency you want to send and select the currency from the Currency drop down box. For example, if you are sending 500.00 EUROs, you would enter 500.00 in the amount and select “EUR-Euro” from the Currency drop down.
- Please Call Johnson Bank’s International Banking Centre at 608.240.1952 before 2:00 PM CST for transactions exceeding USD5,000.00 equivalents.
- The following symbols are not allowed in any part of the wire, including the message to beneficiary: ! @ # $ % ^ & * { } = “ ;
Use of these symbols will cause the wire to reject and will delay the processing of the wire.
