Reasons to Change Browser Settings
Some users may find that the browser they are using is not behaving the way it normally does. For instance, a user who logs in easily every day may report that they suddenly cannot log in. Or maybe a user reports that he is prompted to enter his user name and password more than once, even though he entered it correctly the first time. It is not always easy to determine the source of a browser setting problems, but there are things that a user can try to remedy such problems.
Below are descriptions of procedures contained on this site. Users should consider these options to resolve browser problems in Cash Management when no other causes seem probable.
Enabling Java Scripting:
Java Scripting is one of the programming languages that are used to create Cash Management pages. In order for the product to function properly in the user's browser, Java Scripting must be enabled.
Enabling Cookies:
A cookie is a piece of text that a web server can store on a user's hard disk. Cookies allow a web site to store information permanently (with persistent cookies) or temporarily (with session cookies) on a user's machine and later retrieve it. Johnson On-Line Cash Management uses session cookies. In order for the products to function properly, cookies must be enabled in the user's browser.
Clearing Cache (also known as Temporary Internet Files):
The Cache or Temporary Internet Files folder is the location on the hard disk where Web pages and files (such as graphics) are stored as they are viewed. This speeds up the time it takes to display the information because the browser can open them from the hard disk instead of from the Web.
If a user is having problems viewing a web page or logging in, it's possible that she is viewing an old version of the page from the cache instead of the current version from the web. If this is suspected, the user should follow instructions for clearing Cache or deleting Temporary Internet Files. Clearing the Cache/Temporary Internet Files also automatically deletes the cookies.
Enhanced Login Security (ELS) - What to do if cookies are regularly deleted
When cookies are deleted from a users computer on a regular basis, the user can store a Flash Object. The flash object is a copy of the users (ELS) cookie that can be stored within the users Macromedia player. This copy will allow the user to enter Johnson Online Cash Management without the need for a security code challenge if the user’s original cookie has been deleted.
This addition is invisible to the user and will only occur if the user has a macromedia player already installed. This will allow for fewer challenges in the event that a user deletes their cookies. If the user deletes their ELS cookie and they have a flash shared object stored, the system will make a copy of the object and create another cookie within the browser. This will then be used for authentication at login, so that the user is not challenged.
There are browser version and Macromedia player version limitations. In order to use the Flash object option the user will need to have the following system requirements:
Macromedia player must be installed with a minimum version of v6r65
For Windows: Minimum browser versions of IE -6.0, Netscape -7.2, Firefox - 1.0.
For Mac: Minimum browser versions of IE -5.2, Netscape -7.2, Firefox - 1.5.0.6. Safari – 1.2
Determining if Flash Player is installed on a users computer
1.
From the Taskbar and start menu options, click on "Start".
2.
Select Settings.
3.
Select Control Panel.
4.
Add/Remove Programs
5. Adobe Flash Player Active (must be listed)
Installing Flash Player
Installing Flash Player should allow the computer to retain a copy of the cookie even when cookies are deleted. Go www.adobe.com to download the flash player.
